How to make a fresh start on your image for the new year

Beginning a new year can often be the catalyst to trying new things. Perhaps you’ve got some goals yourself this year? A new exercise regime or healthier diet? A wardrobe clear-out or even a new image. Looking and feeling good are interlinked after all.

There are lots of reasons that women decide to book a consultation with me. More often than not, it’s because they want to feel more confident in what they wear to help them make better and more informed choices.

Most people have too many clothes! Many of these items, aren’t being worn. Not only does this add time to your day, deciding what to wear, it often won’t help how you feel.

Wardrobe Audit

One of the first places to start is a visit to your wardrobe. If it’s bulging at the seams, it’s time remove any items of clothing that don’t fit, don’t flatter you or which you don’t like. It might seem a little ruthless, but hear me out.

Having a wardrobe full of clothes in multiple sizes, which don’t fit or that you don’t like yourself in, will feel like they’re taunting you every day. It can lead you to feel frustrated and trapped in a circle of despair.

Curating a wardrobe of clothes that fit you and which you can feel good in when you wear them, will make getting dressed every day much easier and enjoyable.

Creating space will enable you to assess what you have in your wardrobe and in turn, build outfits that you really love to wear.

If you’re not quite ready to get rid of them, do still remove them. Store them away for the time being and you can revisit them in the future. This way, you’ll have a much clearer view of what you have in your wardrobe and any items that you’re lacking. This will help you to build a list to use to help you to shop with purpose and less impulse buys.

Beware the sale

Buying garments because they’re in the sale, or because they’re cheap isn’t always the best reason to buy something. It’s reduced and cheap for a reason! It doesn’t always mean it’s right for YOU. it’s only ever a bargain if you actually wear it remember!

What suits you?

Knowing what flatters you is the key to building a wardrobe that works for you.

Not everyone is clear about the colour, style, shape, fit or fabric that works for them. Size doesn’t matter, but shape does.
When you learn this and apply this to your clothes, the impact to your confidence will be huge – just listen to those compliments come rolling in!

Wearing the right colours for you is a quick and clever way to enhance your features and provide an instant boost to your confidence. This can make you look healthier, glowing, have clearer and brighter skin. Your eyes will sparkle and people will comment on how well you look. They may ask if you’ve lost weight or done something different with your hair.

Having a professional colour analysis will help you determine the right colours, the right tones and the right shades that suit you. It’s often the first place that people start with on their image journey before moving onto understanding what suits their style, shape and proportions.

If you’re not sure where to start or what package is right for you, get in touch so we can have a chat and identify what’s best for you.
